Prayer to Saint Kateri Tekakwitha
St. Kateri Tekakwitha, favored child and Lily of the Mohawks,
I come to seek your intercession in my present need: (mention it).
I admire the virtues which adorned your soul:
love of God and neighbor, humility, obedience, patience, purity and the spirit of sacrifice.
Help me to imitate your example in my state of life.
Through the goodness and mercy of God,
Who has blessed you with so many graces which led you to the true faith and to a high degree of holiness,
pray to God for me and help me.
Obtain for me a very fervent devotion to the Holy Eucharist
so that I may love Holy Mass as you did and receive Holy Communion as often as I can.
Teach me also to be devoted to my crucified Savior as you were,
that I may cheerfully bear my daily crosses for love of Him Who suffered so much for love of me.
Most of all, I beg you to pray for me
that I may avoid sin, lead a holy life and save my soul.
Amen.
Prayer for Life
O Mary, bright dawn of the new world, Mother of the living,
to you do we entrust the cause of life:
Look down, O Mother, upon the vast numbers of babies not allowed to be born,
of the poor whose lives are made difficult,
of men and women who are victims of brutal violence,
of the elderly and the sick killed by indifference or out of misguided mercy.
Grant that all who believe in your Son may proclaim the Gospel of life with honesty and love
to the people of our time.
Obtain for them the grace to accept that Gospel as a gift ever new,
the joy of celebrating it with gratitude throughout their lives
and the courage to bear witness to it resolutely,
in order to build, together with all people of good will,
the civilization of truth and love, to the praise and glory of God,
the Creator and lover of life.
Amen.
Saint John Paul II, March 25, 1995
Prayer for Tolerance, Forgiveness, Reconciliation
O God, Creator and Father of all, with humility we your children acknowledge the relationship of all living things.
For this we thank you, we praise you and we worship you.
We call on you, Great Mystery, the Word made Flesh – our teacher, prophet and brother –
to open our hearts to all our brothers and sisters,
and with them to grow in the wisdom, honesty, courage and respectfulness shown in The Sacred Teachings.
Give us the vision and honesty to recognize that the we are all brothers and sisters of one human family, created and sustained by the One Creator.
As we deal with many challenges, may we never give way to fear and anger, which can be the source of division and threat amongst peoples.
We look to how God always gives to us, as a remedy for sins of prejudice and intolerance.
We see in God the Creator of all things, One who always provides and is generous –even given the abuses we have heaped on one another and on the earth.
We see in the Son, Jesus Christ - the innocent Victim who pours His life blood out from the Cross for all peoples.
We see how the Holy Spirit is God’s gift, alive in our world today – inspiring vision and hope that we can have the same mind and heart of God!
May Your Spirit bless the souls who died at the Kamloops residential school and all souls who died at residential schools.
May this same Spirit also bring blessing and healing to all families and communities affected in any way by the schools.
O Creator, show us the way to healing, forgiveness and reconciliation and a renewed fellowship.
Amen.
For 9 consecutive days say the following prayer:
Glorious Saint Anne, Mother of the Mother of God, grandmother of our Lord Jesus Christ, we come before you beseeching your intercession. We see in our land the wounds caused by the sins of prejudice, neglect, abuse, and prideful arrogance. May we have hearts of flesh which seek to feel and understand the pain caused by residential schools in our country and may that understanding unite us more closely to our Saviour who suffered for us. May we seek righteousness and justice in our treatment of others knowing that we are all equal before the eyes of God our Father. May we always see in those rejected by the world the face of our Lord who has told us that what we do unto the least of our brothers and sisters, we do unto Him. May we never be complacent in the face of evil, but seek to bring to the light of truth that which is hidden so that healing may abound. May we have humble hearts which reject the vanities and schemes of this world and long for the Kingdom of Heaven. O Mother of the Mother of God, cast your maternal gaze upon those wounded by residential schools and their families that they may find healing and peace. May the divisions between indigenous and non-indigenous people in our country and church give way to reconciliation and love. May we remember that we are one family in Jesus Christ, who gave us His mother upon the cross and in so doing gave us yourself as our grandmother. May we who are one family be united in the peace that your Grandson, the Prince of Peace, Jesus Christ, longs to pour forth into our hearts. May the souls of those who died in residential schools be brought into the kingdom of light and peace. Pray for us before the Throne of Jesus Christ our Lord and your Grandson that we who beg your intercession may one day rejoice with you in the Kingdom of God.
Amen.
Daily prayers
Amen
